You Got This!

It’s so, so tempting to walk to the fridge and grab a snack when you are working from home. I get it. It’s like the long days of studying in college. A trip to the coffee shop for a snack? Yes please! A long lunch break followed by a mid-afternoon snack? Yes! Sign me up for ANYTHING that is an excuse to NOT study.

Similarly, it can be hard to stay motivated to eat well when you are at home. And working out? It’s even harder when you figure, “Why exercise NOW? I have all day?” And then before you know it, it is 9pm and you haven’t stepped foot out of the house.

Struggling to stay on track with your fitness and healthy eating goals when you are working from home?

It’s not easy to stay motivated to eat well and to exercise when you aren’t on your usual schedule.

Below are five non-traditional tips to stay motivated to eat well and get your exercise in on your work from home days.

5 Tips to Help You Stay Motivated to Eat Well and Exercise When Working from Home

1. Put on Makeup Daily

I know it sounds silly, but spending an extra 3-5 minutes each day to put on makeup will make you feel better about yourself.

When you look at yourself in the mirror and see your beautiful self, you will feel attractive and want to keep up the good work! It will motivate you to eat well and take care of yourself.

2. Wear Cute Clothes

Wear clothes that make you feel good. If you dress nicely and feel good about yourself, you will feel motivated to stick to your healthy eating habits. After all, you want your cute new pink skirt to fit a month from now, right? I found this $25 pink tennis and running skort on Amazon. I also love the blue or purple tennis skort too (shown below).

Wearing jeans is also a GREAT way to ensure you don’t slip up on your healthy eating habits. You will notice if you start to gain weight quickly in jeans!

3. Exercise in the Morning

If you work out first thing in the morning, you are done! When you start your day off with a strong start, you will feel more motivated to eat healthy for the rest of the day. Why undo the hard work that you did?

In contrast, if you DON’T exercise, you may think, “Well I already screwed up today. Why not go ahead and eat that extra cup of ice-cream too?”

4. Buy Yourself a Small Present Weekly

Treat yourself. It could be a $5 present from Amazon, a new facial cream, or a pair of workout shorts. Or flowers from Trader Joes.

Treat yourself for eating well and working out.

5. Have a Healthy Breakfast

Even if you ate too much the previous night, have a healthy and fulfilling breakfast each morning.

Healthy breakfast options could be eggs and coffee, Greek yogurt with fruit, a delicious fruit smoothie, or an energy-boosting breakfast toast.

Summary – Start Your Day off Strong to Stay Motivated

What do all of these tips have in common? They all begin with a strong start to your morning. Try to start your day off right, and it will help you stay motivated throughout the day.

Keep up the good work!
