What to Do When You are Feeling Sad

Sometimes you just have a bad day or people aren’t nice to you or something happens that makes you sad and feeling blue. That’s okay. It happens to all of us!

So what can you do when you are feeling sad? Here are 10 ideas of things to do to add a pep to your step and cheer you up.

What to Do When You Are Feeling Sad – 10 Things to Cheer You Up

1. Have a bowl of popcorn.

Popcorn is low in calories (if you get the right kind!). Pop it up, toss it in a big happy bowl, sit on the couch, and enjoy yourself.

2. Put on your favorite PJs.

And some slippers too. My favorite? A cute onesie and my big, cushy slippers!

3. Phone a friend.

Call a friend and tell them what’s gotten you down. Ask them to cheer you up.

4. Treat yourself to a yummy (healthy) meal.

Get your favorite healthy fast food meal delivered. I love Chipotle. Order whatever floats your boat!

5. Boogie around the house.

Turn Pandora or Spotify to “Dance Pop” and sing out loud.

6. Hug a pillow.

Get yourself a big, fluffy pillow (or cute stuffed animal) and hug it when you are feeling down.

6. Sip coffee or tea.

Make a hot cup of coffee (you can use decaf) or tea. Froth your milk to make it extra special.

7. Daydream on Pinterest.

Because…it’s like shopping without spending money!

8. Get out of the house.

Walk around a thrift store, the mall, or TJ Maxx. Or Target. Whatever puts you in the mood.

9. Get moving.

Listen to a fun Podcast and go on a walk. Moving helps!

10. Get sunshine.

You need sunshine and Vitamin D to be happy. Feeling down? Take Vitamin D supplements or buy a light.
